Best Lift Kit for a 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma (2016-2023)
Short answer: for the lowest cost in this comparison, the Bilstein B8 5100 + OME bundle at $754.63 is the cheapest verified kit here. For the tallest fixed lift in this set, the two Rough Country 3.5 in kits are the options. For coilovers plus upper control arms, the ICON Stage 3 at $3,256.74 is the top of this comparison. The five kits below split into two height groups (adjustable up to 2.75 in front, or fixed 3.5 in) and three price tiers, and the right one depends on your budget, your drivetrain, and whether your truck is a 5-lug model.
Prices below are as listed on Oct 27, 2026, from the retailers named on each card. They are not live prices: check the retailer link for the current price before ordering. Every kit, part number, lift height, and fitment note on this page comes from the Cerch Garage Tacoma 3rd Gen guide's Lift Kits tab and its Parts Finder section. Nothing here is guessed.

Which one for you
If cost comes first: the Bilstein bundle at $754.63 is the lowest price here, but read the fine print: that figure is shocks + springs with no rear lift option, and adding a rear option raises it, up to $1,800.02 with the extra-heavy leaf pack. The Rough Country Series II at $1,099.95 is the next tier up and the only fixed 3.5 in kit in this set under $2,000.
If you want a fixed 3.5 in lift: the choice is between the two Rough Country kits. The Series II ($1,099.95) is the struts-and-blocks bundle; the Vertex ($2,849.95) adds tubular upper control arms with Clevite bushings and Vertex struts. The price gap is the control arms and the Vertex hardware, as listed in what's included.
If you want adjustable height with coilovers: the two ICON kits share the 0-2.75 in front range. Stage 2 ($2,406.79) is coilovers plus remote-reservoir rear shocks; Stage 3 ($3,256.74) adds tubular upper control arms, which the sheet notes restore alignment geometry at lift height.
If fitment decides it for you: check your truck before anything else. The Bilstein kit is 4WD only and does not fit 5-lug Tacomas. The Vertex kit does not fit 5-lug, T/X Baja, or XSP-X models. The ICON Stage 2 is listed for 2005-up Tacoma 4WD/PreRunner. The Rough Country Series II is listed for 2005-2023 Tacoma generally, with a note to verify fitment against the listing's compatibility checker before ordering.
Fitment and install notes
- ICON Stage 2 is bolt-on with no cutting or welding, but trimming is required for the recommended tire size. The sheet does not state that tire size, so no size is given here.
- Rough Country Vertex: minor cutting is noted on the listing.
- Rough Country Series II: verify fitment against the listing's compatibility checker before ordering.
- Bilstein: 4WD only, not 5-lug; rear lift options change the price (up to $1,800.02 with the extra-heavy leaf pack).
- ICON Stage 3: the shocks are fully serviceable, per the sheet.
What this page does not cover: tire size recommendations, ride-quality comparisons, install times, and difficulty ratings. The Tacoma sheet does not state those, so they are left out rather than guessed. If a kit's listing contradicts anything here, the listing and your truck's actual configuration win.
